Monday Morning Coffee | Caffè Nero

Welcome to my tasty ‘Monday Morning Coffee Blog’. Monday, just saying it (writing it) seems irksome, the day after the weekends escapades and first of the working week. Monday is also the ideal opportunity to really get stuck in and shape the rest of the week’s fortunes, so what better way to start than with a jolly good cup of coffee.

Caffè Nero, 54 Buttermarket, Ipswich

The morning music selection of Johann Sebastian Bach accompanies the Georgian upper floor very comfortably, as do my crispy hazelnut cream wafers and large Americano. I love the tall ceiling, shutters on the windows and fireplaces, though am disappointed that no free wifi is on offer. Do Nero still think people will pay twice the amount of a coffee for the pleasure of checking emails or blogging about how very early millennium it is to charge your customers to enjoy what is a free service in most independent stores....or maybe they are still contractually tied into the dated BT open zone concept...they’ll come around, give it 12 months.
OK on to the coffee. A good ‘crema’ Espresso sitting on top of the Americano, which has the standard two shots of espresso and served with a smile by a young man whose t-shirt reads ‘trainee barrister I’m not sure if that was meant to be funny either.
